A Tale of Daring, Danger, and Lots of Sugar

A week ago, my friend Beth coined the whimsical phrase "yon candied maid," and one of her friends decided to write a poem about it. Do the words "brown sugar beach" and "swarthy knave" intrigue you? Then by all means, read on.

Hehehe!

I love that Pat wrote this from that crazy phrase. Just goes to show that creativity can spark from ANYthing. :)

Some people are so gifted. I really wanted the candied maid to reform the knave, though. I love the possibility of a rebel who makes good for the love of his life. (It is an outgrowth of the Darcy effect.)But, alas, twas a learning tale.

Sorry I missed commenting on your last post. I really liked it because I often feel exactly the same way. I wish there had been just a few more cool things in my past, though I'm glad I got on with the rest of my life when I did. I told Plantboy once that if one of our kids comes to us one day to tell us they want to take a semester off to tour Mongolia and sleep in a yurt, or spend a summer skiing in New Zealand and learning Maori, or a year helping native Africans build wells . . . you get the idea, I probably won't be too critical. There are a WHOLE LOT OF YEARS to be grown up. But the time for some experiences can't be brought back. I don't want to live vicariously through my children, but I want them to really live, for their own sakes.
