Muffins and an R.O.U.S.

Today's not-so-favorite moments included . . .

. . . spotting an R.O.U.S. (in this case a big possum) on a wall outside. I know they don't eat people, but it still tingled my spine a bit.

Today's favorite moments included . . .

. . . baking muffins with Joy.

. . . kissing Daniel's little cheeks.

. . . cleaning out the fridge. It wasn't the most pleasant task, but it feels good to finally have it done.

And another thing . . .

We had a possum that visited our back deck semi-frequently at our Chicago area house. They are ugly critters. This particular one would even bring possum junior along. Foraging was good on the deck--all the local critters liked to stop by for a bite of our cat's food or some of the bird seed from our large feeder.
One night, Ed decided he was going to catch himself a possum. He slid open the door and leapt out on the deck as the possum high-tailed it out of there. High-tailing it was a bad idea because it left its tail available for grabbing. My crazy husband got it by the tail and had it dangling. After a moment, rationality hit and he let it go. After all, what would we do with a possum?

At least it made for a good story.

I can imagine Morgan of the indefatigable energy chasing it in circles, or Theo carrying it around while it played dead...but they really are ugly so I'll stop imagining now.
